A World of Lost Words (A Tempest of Shadows Book 5) by Jane washington

Blurb

I was born with a shadow inside me, a beast clawing and ripping its way to freedom. I was born with a clock inside me, the tick-ticking of my heartbeat drawing us all closer to the inevitable, the inescapable. The end of everything.

And now, finally, it has arrived.

The world is burning, the souls are screaming, the castles are crumbling. Death is here for us all, but I am a warrior of light, a conqueror of worlds, a protector of souls. I have seen the face of death, and it is only one face in a sea of many, one name in a language so vast, most of the words have been forgotten … but languages can be learned.

In a world of lost words, even death has a name.

In the forgotten places full of forgotten whispers, magic can always be found. Even by the weakest of us. Even the cursed and condemned, the stewards or sectorians, the warriors or maidens, the gods or mortals.

Even someone like me.

my review

Wow, we’ve come so far in this world. What an incredible ending to an epic journey. I’m sad to say goodbye.

The author wasted no time getting right to the final battle along with answering many questions and progressing the story. This book is similar to the first and second where I got lost in her world of words (see what I did there) but in a really good way. Where as in the beginning of the series is was a bit much and hard to follow, this time I drifted with the words and let them take me. Jane Washington is truly a beautiful writer. A talent I will never hold.

I think what I loved most about this final book was the full 180 with the Masters. The love and devotion they showed Ven was magic. But it was the humor they had when it came to discussing their familial bonds that got me laughing out loud. Helki would tell me to stop being disgusting but it’s true, they started acting like brothers! Where Ven feared them in the beginning of the series, she was now rolling her eyes at their absurdities. I enjoyed every second of it.

The other thing I loved most was the epilogue. Oh my heart. This type of ending is always the cherry on top for me. I only wished it was longer. Once again, you will laugh at the absurdities of the brothers.

Well, I hope everyone enjoys the series as much as I did and I’m putting it in my top picks for this year.

Happy reading!
