Queen of Anarchy (Dirty Broken Savages Book 2) by Eva Ashwood

Blurb

I was a good girl once. But bad bitches get shit done.
My list is finished. Every name has been crossed off. I should be sipping cocktails on a beach somewhere, breathing easy for the first time in years.
But I’m not.
Because that asshole Ivan St. James refused to stay at the bottom of the river where Knox put him.
Because someone dragged his body up from the depths and laid it out as a very public, very gruesome warning.
Because I swear it was Hannah’s eyes I saw behind that mask.
Nothing makes sense anymore, and if I thought I might find some peace in knowing that the men who hurt us are dead, I was wrong.
The game isn’t over yet. The original deal I struck with the Kings of Chaos is null and void, and despite my plan to walk away from them when this was all done, there’s no way I can do that now.
Our fates are entwined, at least until we sort out this mess.
Honestly, I don’t know how to feel about that. Because as much as I refuse to let my walls down for anyone, I’m starting to think these four brutal, dangerous men…
Might be the only ones I can trust.

My Review

The second book picks up right where the last one ends. The men are quickly ushering River out of the gala after seeing the display of Ivan St. James’ dead body in the middle of the room.

This book starts off a bit slow in making any progress towards who did it and why. They go around in circles on possible suspects. At one point River says what I’m thinking: “We’re just going in circles at this point. Rehashing the same five questions over and over.”. Yes, exactly! I was afraid the author didn't know what to do next. After an incredible first book, I was nervous this book was going to flop.

Then we get some amazing character development and I breathed a sigh of relief. We learn a lot about Ash, Gage, Knox and Priest. It tells us how their past has shaped them into the men they are today. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking to hear them tell River their stories. I felt the author did an outstanding job at writing them. I can see, feel and understand each of them. Then when you put them all together it makes perfect sense. One of the things I love most in reverse harems is the bond that’s already in place between the men, so when you add the female lead the bond feels complete. They didn’t know what they were missing until they found River. It’s cheesy I just said that but it’s true and I fall for it every time.

Then the steam rolls in and I COMPLETELY forgot there was a story. I actually didn’t care there was a story. Wow. Just wow. Another level. The Kings and River are meant for each other. Complete perfection.

Happy Reading
